Criticism

For this artist from Brest, the ‘Ecole des Beaux Arts’ as well as trips to the East and Asia have formed a precious creative groundwork, allowing her to develop an uncommon artistic sense. Whether realist or even hyper-realist, her work always evokes a particular finesse; there is a softness in the poetry and reflection that lays the usual barrenness of an over-analysed and overstated reality open to public scorn. She has won outstanding awards at numerous exhibitions for her substantial work in both advertising and decorative painting. This has confirmed Nicole Madec’s talent, allowing her to successfully tackle her figurative vision with audacity and artistic creativity. Her impeccable technique enables Nicole Madec to play on the shimmers found in the marine world with lively generosity, making reflections in water sparkle. The subtle tints and captivating shapes form extraordinary motifs, not forgetting the velvety feel of the pebbles with their sumptuous curves, or her rocks with their reassuring and well-defined edges. These remain very consistent with the quality, composition and lighting of masses and colours that can be seen in brilliant splashes on the boat hulls. Lastly, it is worth mentioning the charm and appeal of Nicole Madec’s landscapes, and the way magical shades of colour envelope her fascinating perspectives.
