Criticism

Antoine Josse clearly delights as an artist by means of the concept of his works and their effluence. His two creative approaches are captivating, revealing motifs and enigmatic beings living life intensely in a beautiful ensemble steeped in appeal, originality and quality. Antoine Josse has already charmed art-lovers with his sculptures peopled with lively little lunar and filiform characters. But his paintings will not be outdone: they are impressive for their spectacular atmosphere and evocative colours, and for their unsettling, tumultuous skies, where beings and fantastical motifs enliven works that are full of charm, dreams, reflection and bold effects. And that is what is appealing and disquieting about Antoine Josse, and is owed to his surprising and resonating poetry. In the prevailing strange and dream-like landscapes, life materialises in a desolate, dangerous and threatening mineral world, and minuscule beings, either rash or cautious, settle in vegetation that is determined to exist and spread, like a sign of a benignant future, one that is rustic and attractive, and brought to life by life-giving reds, blues and greens of hope. www.steinmetztablecloths.com/404.php
