Florence MOUILLOT-GAULTIER

Criticism

Drawer, watercolourist and painter Florence Mouillot-Gaultier challenges her temperament by injecting dynamism into works that are full of vitality. She is a classically-trained artist, attentive to using natural pigments for her colours, and we sense she is attracted by a certain formless evocation of her personality. There is no subject in her paintings, whether they be bull-fighting scenes, still-lifes or female nudes, that she does not cease to appropriate and turn on its head. Starting from a realist motif, the artist freely transcends it with powerful determination and sensual elegance. And this makes not only for the charm of her style but also for the interest of the convincing atmosphere with which it is infused. Florence Mouillot-Gaultier presents an individual and promising aspect of reality, rethinking and conveying it while adhering to her solid artistic culture and bold creativity. The spontaneous quality of her composition and efficiency of the original colours, not forgetting her feverish and ebullient drawing style distinguish her work, deploying within it a lyricism that perfectly reflects her pictorial brushstrokes that are in turn demonised with rhythms and positioned with impressive precision.
