Braïma INJAÏ

Criticism

Born in Africa in Guinea Bissau, schooled in Europe, and more specifically at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Rouen, Braïma INJAÏ is a perfectly contemporary artist capable of offering the observer, through his pictorial work, an exhilarating union of two cultures, as the revelation of African art in Art-Deco in the 1920s showed. His style is figurative in a personal way, and completely free, with a certain predilection for representing human beings as they have been portrayed for over 300 centuries! Braïma INJAÏ directs and deepens this approach, careful to convey the idea that expresses the form, especially as the artist displays concern for the status of women in the world, for nature, the different societies, and the relationship between man and child. Therefore, exciting leitmotifs can be seen in the work of this artist whose palette is enriched with bright colours born of pure pigments. A variety of materials is used in his art, and the combination of paint and earth gives rise to a sensual effect of a warm and surprisingly expressive beauty.
