Criticism

During her scolarity, Claire Caudron had the chance and opportunity to discover and appreciate, like many students, the different basic art techniques, and particularly to eagerly retain the essential heart of them. Consequently, the young artist from Caen has recently entirely devoted herself to an imperious creative expression. She governs philosophy and a dreamy quality, and these unceasingly nourish this fresh talent in close symbiosis with life and its vagaries. Her character, having been immersed in the crucible of art, brings shapes and matter to an appealing and very personal painting style, which in turn is conferred with a tumultuous movement, as though anxious to wrestle free and convince in time. Hence Claire Caudron’s visual experimentations: what is mundane and banal is restored to colour by the sheer force of her will and her real need to communicate and persuade. In this sense, she has chosen the right path and this exciting outlet undoubtedly guarantees her a career full of moral and suggestive wealth, and also thoughts, which she wishes to share in her feverous compositions. Painting, in the general sense of the word, is in itself an indispensable medium. It has a very wide abstract spectrum, as in this artist’s case very often, and yet is always implicitly constructed by the soul. Claire Caudron’s restrained and well-chosen palette of colours bubbles with power, compelling her controlled movements to sometimes veil themselves in a certain mystery. This, I think, represents a self-defense mechanism on the part of this flourishing artist, who lives to paint and who paints to express the essence of life and dramatic shifts in reality.
