Look! Here is a man who is Norman to the very core. As friendly as he is attentive, he represents the kind of artist who starts painting out of passion and whose success is owed to his strong will and sensitivity. And what’s more, Hubert Hanivel is not satisfied with simply playing with colours and his brushes: he could not help but gather numerous artists around him and guide, in Quincampoix where he lived, an association of painters who are as kind as they are talented. Hubert Hanivel seeks a contemporary style of figurative painting, and the simplicity of well-executed work which results from combining the picturesque with pleasure. One only needs to look at his rural motifs, and his attractive palette of colours dedicated to a certain humour, to see why he has won awards in national and even international Salons. This success has apparently never gone to his head, since he coolly continues capturing the charming landscapes in his beautiful region and extolling in all naturalness its tenderness and harmony.
