Jean Delacotte: now here’s an on-site painter as we like them! His figurative themes reflect total commitment to the research and discovery of the novel site, the little known motif, and the evocative setting, there where the purity of the conception as well as the artist’s sensibility and enthusiasm take shape, in a tireless search for emotions and singularity.
With a delightful sense of simplicity of design and sobriety in terms of the colour ranges he uses, Jean Delacotte transforms the reality of his painting into witnesses to time, the seasons, charm and a certain vitality. The anecdote surrounding landscapes and seascapes is therefore entirely modified in favour of the full accomplishment of the composition.
Multiplying the view points, the artist makes water, skies and light shimmer increasingly and ever more effectively. His lively brushstroke conveys the very soul of the places he paints, extolling them by means of a soft atmosphere and captivating poetry.
Whether the setting is urban or wild, nature is a must for Jean Delacotte, emerging with a moderate and appealing power as it rivals the living harmony of each painting. His works are simple, truly serene, whether it be a modest thatched cottage or a bright Venetian canal.
