Pierre-André Martin, an urban architect from the south of France, has as of now brought to light the spiritual key of his expression by returning to painting, through which he portrays himself with verve and a particularly fascinating originality. His profession has provided him with the solid bases of reality, which his imagination extols in a brilliant emphasis of undulating rhythms and personalised colours. Blends are applied with passion yet also reflect a manifest knowledge of composition. His strict and mysterious reflections are embellished with a brilliant chromatic symphony of motifs that is both daring and judicious. Take for example his celestial roads populated with figures, sites, faces and rituals significant to the main subject. Pierre-André Martin’s painting style masterfully invites perusal and reverie. Its architectural meticulousness gives way to a lively and rich array of cheery and joyful symbolism. The artist celebrates both the refined elegance of nuances and the brightness of pure colours, thanks to which he confers an endearing, dreamlike dimension to paintings ranging from landscapes of the Midi to compositions of heady dynamism.
