Criticism

Over the course of her different professions, movements, and travels, AXMA has always preserved her identity as an artist and painter. Whether as a visual arts teacher, a post she held for two decades in Le Grand Quevilly, or during her treks around the world, she successfully kept her own unique style, which lacks neither subtlety nor reflection. Therein lies AXMA’s pictorial originality, which she has never abandoned or denied. A lover of theatre, cinema, crime fiction and jazz, she made the smart decision to unashamedly attend lessons at the School of Fine Arts in Rouen, and face up to other exhibitors in the society “Les Peintres Elbeuviens” and at the salon “Artistes Indépendants” in Rouen. And it is in this context that she freely puts her original style of reality to the test. The artist is able to apply paint in a powerful way while at the same time coaxing it to express poetry and light. AXMA’s brushstroke is frank and lively, but thanks to her sensitivity, her motifs treated in sobre colours acquire a presence that is full of appeal and simplicity. Nature can reveal its charm, display its finesse, and unleash its allure in expressive lines of research, producing a captivating impact. AXMA’s vocation is not to integrate a style or some school: she paints with her mind, desires and determination, revealing a talent that has been carefully nurtured throughout her life.
