Are you looking for fine brush-stroke activity, for that unique flow of mysterious colours combined with an elegance and an energy reminiscent of cave-painting spill onto the paintings? If so, see Shirley Carcassonne's work and her beings that are transformed by movement, caught in mid-flight to better master the rhythm and elegance, providing additional mystery and life to the bodies and to reality. The epic character of the spaces and elements turns what we see end feel about these secrets on its head. The artist is nevertheless able to emotionally animate them into poetry with her brush that she daringly guides with a rare spirituality. The artist never risks offending or upsetting, but instead boldly imposes a mysterious beauty worthy of the most captivating endeavours undertaken by an artist whose creations are forever secret while remaining evocative. Shirley Carcassonne weaves her decorative and bewitching story with a few motifs drawn from reality and that reappear metamorphosed. These motifs prove even more unsettling in that they melt into the graphic virtuosity and reveal the talent of the colourist, through the particularly unique nature of Indian inks.
