Criticism
Once more, the Ecole Régionale des Beaux-Arts in Rouen and its teacher Guy Chaplain are entitled to feel delighted at having trained and revealed an artist such as CAPMA. Through pure and vital learning, this artist has managed to construct a creative and well-ordered path for herself by incorporating in her works all that a creator’s free spirit has a right and duty to express and share. And what is most remarkable here are the visual and chromatic affinities in CAPMA’s paintings, sketches and pastels, whether they be abstract or figurative. In both modes, the palette of colours conserves its particularly modern harmony and daring sources around an unsettling and enveloping drawing style. The same rhythms and same compositions persist, their determined appearance disturbing our vision and captivating our thoughts. The bursts of light and balance produced by the blocks of colour further accentuate the powerful continuity of the artist’s style and drive. Her works are never separate entities but rich in bursts of colour and appeal, and handled with as much knowledge as confidence and vitality.
