31 rue Ernest Renan
76600 Le Havre
Artists from Le Havre have always possessed that special something in their style and creativity that not only distinguishes them but also brings a degree of individuality that is full of vigour and boldness to the regional and national anthology, even when it comes to painting reality, for example.
Régis Maréchal is one of these valorous artists, unperturbed by the diplomas and awards he has won since he was mentored at the School of Beaux Arts in Le Havre by the excellent painter Jean Maufay.
Yet Régis Maréchal has developed an exceptional brushwork technique, lacing humour with cruelty in haunting compositions where supernatural beings search for a lost paradise in fantastical serenades of futile gestures, fascinating expressions and contorted bodies. His universe is feverous, bustling with feasts or strange gatherings but these fantasies dwell inside him: a quest for meaning and everyday scenes will be revisited in the magic of the dream world. A daring sweep of the brush and a realistic décor may at times reveal the serene and sunlit discovery of hope: that of the true and perceptive creator who dazzles through his style and enthrals with his mind.
